Typical Practice Session

Practices are broken into six parts:

1) Team Meeting
2) Warm Ups/Stretching/Callisthenic's
3) Standing Wrestling
4) Top Wrestling
5) Bottom Wrestling
6) Conditioning

Team Meeting - Not being long winded, the team meeting is usually a very brief  summery of what will be expected in the practice session.  It is also a good chance for new members to introduce themselves. 

Warm Ups/Stretching/Calisthenics -  Practice starts.  To see a typical warm up routine click here.

Standing Wrestling - The standing wrestling part of the practice is broken down into the following:

Basic Skills Drills: These are basic body movements associated with standing wrestling. 
Independent Technique: Get with a partner and drill your favorite moves
Stance Drills: Drill Stance, Motion, level change and Penetration step.
Contact Technique: Demonstrate and Drill Techniques associated with initial contact and tie ups. 
Technique review: Review moves from previous practice sessions. Incorporate different contact techniques.
 Take Down Technique: Introduce a move and drill the move.
 Counter Attack Technique: Introduce a move and drill the move.
Situation wrestling: Combative wrestling based on different situations from the new move.
Shark bait: A style of round robin live wrestling. (3 to 4 per group)
Water Break:  

Top Wrestling - The Top Wrestling part of the practice is broken down into the following:

Basic Skills Drills: These are basic body movements associated with Top Wrestling. 
Independent Technique: Get with a partner and drill your favorite moves
Ride Technique: Demonstrate and Drill Techniques associated with break downs and rides. 
Technique review: Review moves from previous practice sessions. Incorporate different break downs and rides. 
 Turning and Pinning Technique: Introduce a move and drill the move.
 Counter  Technique: Introduce a move and drill the move.
Situation wrestling: Combative wrestling based on different situations from the new move.
Water Break:  

Bottom Wrestling - The Bottom Wrestling part of the practice is broken down into the following:

Basic Skills Drills: These are basic body movements associated with Bottom Wrestling. 
Independent Technique: Get with a partner and drill your favorite moves
Technique review: Review moves from previous practice sessions. 
 Escape and Reverse Technique: Introduce a  move and drill the move.
 Counter to Escape Technique: Introduce a  move and drill the move.
Situation wrestling: Combative wrestling based on different situations from the new move.
Water Break:  

ConditioningThe conditioning portion of the practice consists of a combination of warm up and callisthenic exercises wit much greater volume and intensity.
